Rotating an Object

Many objects can be rotated once they have been placed on TheView. You can set the rotation angle using the RotateAngle property or you can do it visually.

To Rotate an Object using the RotateAngle Property

  1. Select the object to be rotated.
  2. Right-click to open the object's Property Sheet.
  3. Find the RotateAngle property and enter a desired value.
  4. Close the Property Sheet to see the new placement for the object.

To Rotate an Object Visually

  1. Select the object to be rotated.
  2. Put the object in rotate mode using one of the following methods:
  1. Click the Free Rotate button Free Rotate on the Format bar.
  2. On the Draw menu, click Rotate, then click Free Rotate.
  1. Once the object is in rotate mode its handles will change to round.
  2. Hold the cursor over one of the rotation handles. When the pointer changes to a rotation icon Rotation icon, click and drag the handle clockwise or counterclockwise around the object. The object’s rotation angle is shown below the object as it rotates.
  3. Release the mouse and click anywhere on TheView to exit rotation mode.

Notes:

When rectangular tools are rotated in Edit mode, the resize rectangles will be rotated along with them, so that you can still resize the tool’s un-rotated dimensions (i.e., the equivalent of un-rotating, resizing, and re-rotating). Fixed-ratio can be enforced by holding Shift key as you rotate. The behavior is not supported by the Ellipse or Arc tools.

When rotating objects in Run mode with FlexHorizontal or FlexVertical enabled (with the exception of the Arc tool) the object will stretch and squash as the view is resized, just like non-rotated tools. The behavior is not supported by the Arc tool.
